My First Pancake

The first pancake is always the worst. But did mine have to be the worst in the world? It was burnt, messy, and totally necessary. This was my first UX/UI class project. The assignment? Redesign the university website. I got an A+. Either my professor was blind or he knew I needed the boost. Whichever it was, it worked and it gave me just enough delusion to keep going.

Fresh off the college website “redesign,” I tried my hand at a resume template. Big dreams. Bigger chaos. Props to my manager for not laughing me out of the internship. I would have. Honestly, it’s a miracle I didn’t run into someone like me back then. I would’ve told myself to just stop.

If I could go back and tell my younger self to chill, I would. But let’s be honest, I wouldn’t have listened. I wasn’t humble then.

Now I look at these designs and ask: Disha, what the actual fck?*

But here’s the thing: this is what design teaches you, beyond grids and gradients, it humbles you.
And I’m learning. I’m growing.

If I hadn’t made these mistakes, I wouldn’t have even known they were mistakes.
This project is for anyone who's still trying, still cringing, still improving.
Including me.
